ABOUT EF

The non-profit association EDENTIFY FOUNDATION (EF) is an organisation operating in the public interest, with the HQ in Harju county, Tallinn.
Association promotes the adoption of open-source solutions across various sectors, empowering individuals and businesses to leverage the power of collaboration and innovation. It work is also focused on the development of open source protocols and tools, conducting multidisciplinary research in the ICT domain.

The aim of the association is to raise education and awareness of the impactful research projects by organising dissemination and communication activities including workshops, webinars, and training programs, as well as communication over large spectrum of online and offline channels to educate individuals and organisations.

 

VISION

The EDENTIFY FOUNDATION envisions a world where open-source solutions are embraced across various sectors, unlocking unprecedented opportunities for individuals and businesses. We aspire open collaboration and innovation, by promoting the acitivies in the space and  spearheading the world and code of cutting-edge open-source protocols and tools. By conducting impactful research in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), we seek to contribute to a knowledge-driven society where free and accessible knowledge fosters continuous progress. Our vision is to empower individuals and organisations to thrive in a sustainable, interconnected, and technologically advanced future, guided by the principles of openness, transparency, and shared knowledge.

 

FIELDS OF RESEARCH

  • Web Data and Protocols: that govern the communication between devices and servers over the internet. The foundation engages in research related to open-source web protocols, which include technologies for all OSI layers HTTP, TCP/IP, data formats, and ontologies.
  • Open Source AI: In this field, the foundation explores and develops artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and solutions that are built on open-source principles. Open-source AI refers to AI systems and algorithms whose source code is freely available to the public, allowing anyone to view, modify, and distribute it. By promoting open-source AI, the foundation aims to foster collaboration and innovation in the AI domain, making advanced AI technologies more accessible to individuals and organisations. This research involve developing AI models, frameworks, and applications, as well as contributing to existing open-source AI projects.
  • Blockchain: The foundation conducts research in the area of blockchain technology, which is a distributed and decentralised ledger system that ensures the immutability and transparency of transactions. As an open-source technology, blockchain has the potential to transform various industries, including finance, supply chain, healthcare, and more. The foundation explores different blockchain platforms, consensus mechanisms, and smart contract development to advance the understanding and implementation of secure, efficient, and scalable blockchain solutions.
  • Identities: The foundation explores and develops technologies related to digital identities. Digital identities refer to the digital representation of individuals, organisations, or devices. Research in this area involves investigating methods to establish, manage, and secure digital identities, ensuring that they are unique, verifiable, and protected from fraudulent activities. The foundation may explore technologies such as identity management systems, biometrics, multi-factor authentication, and decentralised identity solutions to address identity-related challenges and enhance online security.

 

EDUCATION AND AWARENESS 

The Foundation is deeply committed to conducting extensive outreach activities as part of research and innovation initiatives. Emphasising the adoption of solutions and promoting collaboration and innovation, the foundation dedicates significant efforts to engage with a wide spectrum of stakeholders. The outreach activities encompass a diverse range of dissemination and communication strategies designed to foster education and awareness about impactful projects.

GOVERNANCE

The highest body of the organisation is the general meeting of members in accordance with the law, in which all members of the organisation may participate.
The management board of the organisation is elected for three years and may include one to three members appointed by the general meeting.
The general meeting may appoint a review or audit for the term of office of the Management Board.
